Christmas Pageant
Christmas Pageant 2024, December 8 at 4:00pm
Calling all shepherds, angels, wise men and women, and barnyard animals: We need you for the Christ Church Cathedral Pageant! Children, youth, and adults of all ages are invited to attend this joyous and impromptu production that celebrates the birth of Jesus, our King and Savior.
Costumes: Children are asked to come to the Cathedral dressed in a simple costume of their choosing as a wise man, wise woman, an angel, a shepherd, or a barnyard animal. Don't worry, costumes will be available if you choose not to make one. Participants need to be dressed and in their designated “waiting” area by 3:30 p.m. If you need help with your costume or need “accessories,” come to Cheek Hall a little earlier!
Angels:
-Use a white pillowcase with neck and armholes cut out. The cord used to tie on the wings will gather the waist.
-Wear a white nightgown or dress.
Halos: We will have halos available.
Wings: We will have wings made and available.
Shepherds:
-Use a beach towel draped over the shoulder and tied with a cord at the waist. Or, use a bathrobe. Or, swag a rectangle of fabric or a scarf across the chest.
-Use a terry towel, a rectangle of leftover fabric, or a scarf tied with rope or cord around the head.
-Flip Flops or sandals for shoes.
-Bring a long, sturdy stick for a staff.
Animals:
-Lambs: Flannel pajamas with cotton balls glued on.
-Other animals: Be creative!
Wise People:
-Use a richly colored pillowcase, covered by a cape draped over the shoulder.
-If you don’t have a cape, get a big rectangle of leftover fabric and drape it over the shoulders and either tie it at the neck, velcro it, or use a safety pin.
-Use any crowns you may have or we will have some at church.
Remember to keep this relaxed and simple. We hope this special event will encourage children, youth, and adults to remember, and rejoice at what happened in Bethlehem more than 2000 years ago.
