Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Ministry
Mission:
To nurture the spiritual life of each child by fostering a deep, personal relationship with God through a Montessori-based approach. We are committed to providing a sacred and prepared environment where children can explore, wonder, and grow in their understanding of the Good Shepherd. We believe that even the youngest among us possess an innate connection to the Divine, and our role is to guide them as they express and deepen this relationship. Through prayer, song, and hands-on materials rooted in biblical teachings and the rhythms of the church year, we support each child’s journey in faith, allowing them to experience God’s love at their own pace.
Time Commitment:
Your choice, one, a few, or all Sunday mornings a month.
Benefits from volunteering:
Growing in your own relationship with God, the Good Shepherd, and our parish family. Nurturing your own prayer life, your participation and love of the sacraments and liturgy, and knowledge and connection with the Word of God.
What's included?
There are many ways to volunteer in the CGS program. One can simply volunteer their time as a parent and friend on Sunday mornings, though you may also feel called and invited (in consultation with our clergy) to be trained as a catechist (or facilitator) in this beautiful work. In collaboration with Canon Friedman, our CGS volunteers are organized into teams in three levels and atria, offered times to serve when they are needed on Sunday mornings to help and assist our catechists. Volunteers will have an orientation and introduction to our spaces and materials, as well as best practices for the safety, health, and wellness of our children.
