Children/Youth

We invite our children and youth to wonder in love about God’s goodness. From infants to high-schoolers, we offer comprehensive formation opportunities in the classroom, in worship, and through service at the Cathedral and in the city. There is a place for your children here at the Cathedral!

Children’s Ministries

We’d love to have your child join us on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.! For children ages 3 (must be potty trained) – 5th grade we offer Sunday School classes through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program. CSG is a Montessori-based method that embraces the relationship of the child and God and encourages adults to come alongside the child as they wonder and discover more about Jesus, our Good Shepherd. To learn more, we invite you to read this overview [see below] and watch a brief video from cgsusa.org. Register your child here.
  • For infants and toddlers (ages 6 weeks – 3 years old and not yet potty trained), we have a nursery space for them. The Nursery and Toddler Atrium is a caring environment for children to play, read stories, and engage in activities. We provide a snack and ask that you bring a bottle (or cup) with your drink of choice, diapers, wipes, and an extra change of clothes that are all clearly labeled.
  • In early June, we offer Vacation Bible School in the late afternoon and early evening. Check our Events in April and May for VBS registration!.
  • For information about baptizing your child, you can find information here. For information about our Cathedral Choristers program, you can find information here.
  • For questions about our Children’s Ministries or to volunteer with our children, please contact our Canon and Associate Rector for Family Ministries the Rev. Canon Anna Russell Friedman.

Youth Ministries

Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to join our Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)! On Sunday mornings during the school year, we gather for Youth Formation at 10:00 a.m. This is where our community grows in its relationship with God through prayer, discussion, study, and other spiritual practices and activities. Approximately once a month during the weekend, we have an EYC Event to have fun and bring us closer together. Check the password-protected EYC calendar for more information. We also encourage our youth to serve in worship as acolytes, ushers, and more, and in the community (many opportunities are provided).
