We offer ways for adults to be curious in love through classes and programs that engage us spiritually and intellectually, no matter our station in life or faith journey. Come, bring your questions and doubts, and your open minds and hearts!
Adult Education
- Join the almost 100 adults participating in Sunday morning classes at 10 AM during the program year! We usually offer two concurrent series for 4-6 weeks over a range of topics including Bible, theology, history, liturgy, spirituality, culture and faith, equity and justice, and real-life issues. Check our Events for our current offerings.
- On Sundays at 10 AM during winter, we offer our Journey in Faith class. This is an introduction to the Episcopal tradition and the Cathedral for those seeking to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church (and become voting members of the Cathedral), those already confirmed who wish to learn more and deepen their faith, and those simply curious about what we believe! This is a multi-week class and we ask for consistent attendance and participation in the life of the Cathedral.
There are also a number of ongoing opportunities that meet during the week:
Education for Ministry (EFM)
A four-year study of scripture, theology, church history, ethics and ministry through the School of Theology at the University of the South, requiring registration. EFM meets on Wednesday mornings at 8 AM during the program year.
Contact Frances Christian or Susan Standbrook for more information.
Bible Buddies
An engaging drop-in Bible study led by volunteers on Wednesday mornings in the Wheeler Room at 11:15 AM.
Women’s Bible Study
Women’s Bible Study offers women a chance to deepen their faith, reflect on Scripture, and get to know each other. This drop-in group meets on the second Saturday of the month at 10 AM. Please contact Andrea Tucker for more information.
Centering Prayer
The Cathedral Centering Prayer group meets weekly year-round for a simple gathering that includes a brief reading and discussion, a twenty-minute silent sit, and an open invitation for newcomers to explore this contemplative practice that enriches and complements other forms of prayer.
For in-person Thursday meetings, contact Debbie Webster.
For Wednesday Zoom meetings, contact Mimi Shimmin.
