Cathedral Community Gathers to Kick Off Capital Campaign

On Friday evening, February 22, the Cathedral community gathered to celebrate the kickoff of Let the Doors Be Opened: The Campaign for Christ Church Cathedral. Parishioners braved a steady downpour of rain to enjoy libations and hors d’oeuvres in the Nave amid soft lighting, ambient jazz music, and beautiful flowers arranged by the Cathedral Flower Guild.

Tyler Yarbrough, Chair of the Strategic Plan Implementation Committee, greeted the assembled group and then gave the floor to Dean Kimbrough, Hal and Dona Johnson (Co-Chairs) and Mary and Charlie Cook (Honorary Co-Chairs), who talked about the importance of sacrificial giving in support of the Campaign. Expressing a goal of 100% participation, the chairs announced that an $8 million goal had been set for the first phase of the Campaign and that the Campaign has already received commitments totaling two-thirds of that goal.  Everyone was encouraged to come to Campaign Celebration Sunday on March 31 to pledge their support. The night concluded with an inspiring video, set to music and featuring the voices of several parishioners, that encouraged all parishioners to participate in the Campaign.

A brochure outlining the reasons to support the Campaign was handed out to everyone as they left the party. Copies were also mailed to all parishioners.

Special thanks to Page and Windrow for their help in planning and executing the event, to the Flower Guild for the spectacular flower arrangements that adorned the Nave, and to the Cathedral staff who worked hard to make the event a success.
