SACRAMENTS AT CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL
|
Holy
Baptism
Baptism
is the sacrament through which persons are invited into the Body of Christ
and made members of that spiritual fellowship, the Church.
Confirmation
After completing a course of preparation, baptized
parishioners make a public affirmation of their faith and a commitment to the
responsibilities of their faith and a commitment to the responsibilities of
their baptism.
Marriage
Christian marriage is a solemn and public covenant
between a man and a woman in the presence of God.
Ministration to the Sick
The sacrament of the Laying on of Hands or
anointing (Unction) is provided at the Cathedral through the ministries of
the clergy and Stephen Ministers.
The Reconciliation of a Penitent
The ministry of reconciliation is exercised through
the care each Christian has for others, through the common prayer of
Christians assembled for public worship, and through the priesthood of the
Church and its ministers declaring absolution.
Burial of the Dead
The Burial Office is an occasion of affirmation of hope and faith in
the Resurrection, of strength and even joy amidst loss and grief. Thus,
funerals are held in the church where the symbols and associations speak of
triumph over death and of God's eternal love
