Annual Parish Meeting and Vestry Nominating Committee for 2012

The Cathedral Vestry has adopted Vestry Election Procedures that include the naming of a Nominating Committee and guidelines for conducting the Vestry election at the Annual Parish Meeting.

The Annual Parish Meeting will open on Sunday, January 22, 2012 and close on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Click HERE for the schedule and agenda.

The adopted Vestry Election Procedures document gives the Nominating Committee the responsibility of creating and announcing the election slate, announcing and coordinating the annual meeting, providing for the election itself, and for the announcement of the election results.

Diocesan Canons establish eligibility to vote. You must be present, 16 or older, and an enrolled, confirmed, communicant in good standing of the Cathedral congregation. If you are uncertain of your eligibility to vote, please contact Peggy Tucker at ptucker@christcathedral.org or 615.255.7729.

2012 Vestry Nominating Committee

Members of the 2012 Nominating Committee are:

Michael Hasty - appointed by the Senior Warden
Ken Hinman - appointed by the Dean
Mary Herbert Kelly - from the retiring 2011 vestry class
Sandra Merritt - appointed by the Dean
Scott Smith - from the retiring 2011 vestry class

The committee's term of service shall end following a successful Vestry election.

Nomination Process Information

Starting on Sunday November 20, 2011 through Sunday December 4, 2011, parishioners are encouraged to forward any recommendations for the Vestry slate to Mary Herbert Kelly at maryherbertkelly@gmail.com or 615.292.5262. There is no need to secure the permission of the individual suggested to the Nominating Committee. The Committee will follow-up as needed. The slate of nominees created by the Nominating Committee will be announced to the congregation at least two weeks in advance of the election. Per the canons of the Diocese of Tennessee, an opportunity to make nominations from the floor will be provided the congregation prior to open balloting.
