EYC stands for Episcopal Youth Community. It is designed for those in the 6th through 12th Grades. One way we like to think of our youth community is a place to have fun, a place to belong and a place to learn more about God and your neighbor and who you are called to be in the midst. We believe that youth group can be one of the most important groups a young person belongs to. For six years, we travel together in community through that sometimes very tough gauntlet called middle school and high school. We create a safe space to talk about our lives, consider spiritual matters, or live out our baptismal covenant. Our goal is to share your joys as well as your concerns; to be a place where you can come and feel comfortable, without the pressures you may have in other areas of your life. We hope you’ll take advantage of these programs. They will add immeasurably to your life, and you will add immeasurably to ours.

Program Overview

Sunday Mornings – Youth Formation

On Sunday mornings from September to May, we gather for Youth Formation during the Sunday school hour, 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the 810 Building. This is where our community grows in its relationship with God through prayer, small and large group discussion, study and other spiritual practices and activities. It’s a great way to center yourself in God as a new week begins.

Worship +1

Our services on Sunday morning are at 7:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 11 AM, and 6 PM, and we strongly encourage and invite all families to worship together. It is in worship where we are shaped by word, prayer, and sacrament, and to be able to share this experience as a family is a true gift and discipline. In addition to attending worship, we ask our youth to serve in one way throughout the year (your +1). You can choose to serve as a lector, usher, acolyte or Cathedral Chorister. For more details on each opportunity and how to get involved, contact the youth department here.

Sunday Afternoons – EYC Social

Once a month from September to May, we gather for food, fellowship, and community time. This is when we strengthen our relationships with each other as well as learn more about ourselves in community and have FUN! On any night you might find us playing games, talking about important social and spiritual topics, creating things, going bowling, heading to the park … who knows what else? You don’t want to miss out on the friends and fellowship this group has to offer you! Check the calendar for specific dates and times.

Lattes and Lifechats

Join our youth ministry staff and special guests on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 pm. It’s a great time to connect with one another during the school week. We’ll even treat you to a cold or hot beverage! Check the calendar for specific locations.

Summer Mission Opportunities

Mission trips are community-building events in which our youth put into action what they are learning spiritually. Each summer, our youth travel near and far to share God’s love. In the past, we have traveled to Cochabamba, Bolivia, New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama. Mission trips include project work, shared meals, connections with members of the community, morning and evening prayer and reflection, socializing and fun. Through these experiences, our youth build friendships, create bonds with people in the community they serve, and deepen their faith.
