OCCUPATION: Executive Director, Chi Psi Fraternity
FAMILY: Married to Meg Children: Evelyn (4) and Matthew (21 months)
YEARS AT THE CATHEDRAL: 5 years
CHURCH ACTIVITIES: I have served as an usher at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services, as a Stewardship co-chair for 2011, as a confirmation mentor, and on the Newcomer Welcoming Committee. My wife, Meg, serves as a lector. We have an interest in the Cathedral’s Christian Education Program; our daughter, Evelyn, participates in the four-year-old class, and we enjoy the Dean’s weekly forum. Christ Church Cathedral has become a spiritual home for us, and I find the rewards multiply with each new experience.
COMMUNITY INTERESTS: I serve on the board of Camp Marymount, a Catholic summer camp and year-round retreat center in Fairview, TN, I am a founding director of the Captain Joseph House Foundation, a not-for-profit organization which provides unique services extending the continuum of care for all military families who have lost a loved one and made the ultimate sacrifice, and am a member of the Rotary Club of Nashville. I enjoy woodworking, travel, being outdoors, following my professional and college sports teams, and the fellowship of family and friends.
VISION FOR THE FUTURE: I support the vision for Christ ChurchbCathedral that is posted on the website: “Our vision is to be a welcoming place; a stronghold of Christian faith; a model of service in our community and diocese in liturgy, spiritual formation, education, outreach, stewardship, pastoral care; and a parish willing to take risks in pursuing our Mission.”
OTHER: I’d like to see more people involved in the life of the church, making it their primary outlet for service to others, and I believe the church should operate a comprehensive communications plan to foster this. Considering our location, I would like to see Christ Church Cathedral known as Middle Tennessee’s leading champion for the needs of the Nashville downtown community – particularly the homeless and downtrodden – and for all the people of God.
