Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)

EYC is our community and faith building gatherings that meet each Sunday, whether it be for Bible study, outreach or just being together..  EYC brings youth from the Cathedral into a welcoming and respectful Christ- centered environment.  All youth from grade 6 through 12 are welcome to take part in the fun, games, service projects and meaningful fellowship. Youth are always encouraged to invite friends to join us, too.  Our home base for EYC is typically in the Youth Room (810 Building),  but very often we travel to off-site gatherings in parks, skating rinks, homes, movie theatres, restaurants or to service agencies for our outreach work.

In addition to the regular meetings, there are important opportunities for monthly outreach and large fellowship events.  All of our EYC dates are publicized  in weekly email reminders from the Youth staff (and in the church-wide "Happenings"), on this site (see Calendar link to the left) and in our Cathedral publications (like the Cornerstone and our weekly service leaflets).  Youth outreach projects are meaningful ways for the youth to give of themselves and to reach out to our neighbors in need. 

Some of the local service agencies we partner with are: Oasis, Matthew 25, RITI, Preston Taylor Ministries, Magdalene House, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Siloam, West Nashville Partnership, Reconcilation House, and St. Luke's.  

Parents of youths participating in church-sponsored EYC events must complete the "Permission Form", which authorizes provides important information for the staff. The form can be downloaded, signed and returned to the Cathedral.

September 12: Youth Kick-Off Party, 12-3pm, Edwin Warner Park, # 6,  RSVP to Monica or Caroline

September 26: Youth Room 4-5:30pm

October 10: Matthew 25, 4-6pm: Sign up to bring a food item and help serve!

October 24: Halloween Theme, 4-5:30, Location TBA

November 21: Cafe Cathedral: Bongo Java East, South 11th St./East Nashville.  Evening of Youth talent, coffee and desserts. 6pm.

December 4: Ice Skating Service Day with Preston Taylor Ministries, 3-5pm Centennial Sportsplex

December 5: Christmas Pageant, led by 8th grade, Nave, 5pm. Dinner to follow.

December 19: Movie Matinee: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and dinner following. Green Hills Regal 10. Time TBA
