This week at the Cathedral

Wednesday, August 4, 6:30-8:30 p.m. - Diocesan Youth Event at St. Bartholomew’s
Please mark your calendar and round up a group of friends to share in the fellowship feast. Youth ministers in the diocese have been hard at work planning our first diocesan youth party and Eucharist.  Burgers (including veggie burgers), hot dogs and all the fixings will be provided. We’ve been asked to bring a side or dessert to share. Please RSVP to Caroline Rossini or 512-7246.

Friday, August 6, 11 a.m. - The Bone’s Workshop, A Practical Approach to Bone Health resumes
This workshop is lead by Katherine Correa LMT, Breema Instructor, in the Cathedral Annex Building on Fridays, from 11a.m.-12p.m. $15 per class. Mats are provided. Bring a friend. For more information contact Anne Stevenson at 255-7729 or Katherine or 269-9718.

Friday, August 6, 6 p.m. - Sacred Soul Space First Friday – “Tales of An Angel, A Snake, A Rat and A Whale”
Learn how these creatures each bear a strange witness to God’s relationship with the men and women of the Old Testament. A guardian angel is alarmed when she is told to step aside and allow a serpent into Eden. A bawdy rat encounters a moment of theological angst while sailing an endless sea aboard Noah’s ark. A blues-singing whale has a word or two for a reluctant prophet trying to escape from God. These are three scenes from a collection of stories and paintings created by Merrill Farnsworth, with music by Phil Madeira, and featuring readings by Chip Arnold, Nan Gurley and Robert Kiefer. Childcare is provided and a reception follows. Join us and invite your friends.

Companions in Christ Groups Forming for Fall 2010
Over the past several years Christ Church Cathedral has sponsored small group spiritual formation through the Companions in Christ series. A new group is being formed for the 28-week study. Groups generally have six to eight members and meet weekly for two hours at a mutually agreeable time and place determined by the participants. The series is a powerfully transforming experience providing a discipline for study that allows you to grow spiritually and deepen your relationship with God. Two follow-up study groups will also be formed. If you are interested in any of these groups or would like more information, please contact Libby Patterson, 353-9555 or Joanne Knight, 665-9449.
