Joining the Church

Becoming a member of Christ Church Cathedral is easy!

Any baptized person can be a member of Christ Church Cathedral because all baptized people are members of the Body of Christ regardless of the denomination or congregation in which they were baptized. If you are not an Episcopalian, you may wish to read our section on How to Become an Episcopalian to learn more!

If you are not baptized, speak to any member of the Clergy to discuss your wish to become baptized... regardless of age. We have baptisms several times a year, and we would be happy to have you baptized here!

If you are baptized and are a confirmed Episcopalian, but your official records are not on file at the Cathedral, we can contact your former church (with your help) and get a copy of your baptism and/or confirmation and transfer your record here.

If you are baptized and are not a confirmed Episcopalian, which is our ceremony for an adult profession of faith, please discuss your desire for confirmation with any member of the Clergy. If you were confirmed in another denomination, that confirmation will be “received” by our bishop at a Confirmation ceremony, which is held the Saturday night before Easter Sunday at the Great Vigil of Easter.

Please contact Elizabeth Madsen, membership support coordinator, at 615- 255-7729 and she will help you with anything about joining the church membership.

Once you are a member (and even before becoming a member!) of the Cathedral, if you wish to do so, you can help support the operations, outreach, and events by making an annual pledge.
