Becoming an Episcopalian

Each year, during the Sunday School hour, Christ Church Cathedral has a class entitled, "Jouney in Faith, the Catechumenate."

The Catechumenate is a term that means, "Receiving instruction in the principles of the Christian religion."

So, the "Journey in Faith" class is offered to prepare candidates for confirmation, reception and reaffirmation in the Episcopal Church. The class is designed to help every Christian — new or lifelong — to embark upon a path to life in Christ.

Together, we will discover:

  • Faith traditions: where we’ve been and where we are now.
  • The history, tradition and unique practices of the Episcopal Church.
  • Episcopal worship and what we believe.
These sessions will lay the groundwork to begin or continue a spiritual journey with Christ and our community. Woven throughout this series will be forums with clergy and other members and studies that fit the season. This is an opportunity to not only learn about the church but become a part of our faith community through participation and fellowship.

Whether new to the Christian faith, the Episcopal faith tradition or simply seeking renewal as an Episcopalian, please make plans to participate in this offering. Not sure if you are ready for a journey and just wanting to be an explorer? Please come along!

Contact any of our clergy at the Cathedral if you would like more information or contact Becky Rochford, Christian Education Coordinator, at 615-255-7729 for more information.
