Gene B. Manning is the Sub-dean at Christ Church Cathedral where she coordinates pastoral care, and works with youth ministry, young adults programming and global missions. She also participates in liturgical and other ministries of the Cathedral.
Gene is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, holds a Master of Education degree in human development counseling from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Divinity degree from the Schoolof Theology at the University of the South and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Preaching from Seabury Western Seminary.
Prior to seminary, Gene worked in the counseling field with children and with adolescents in the alcohol and drug field. After ordination she served at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Donelson, and was later Associate Rector at St. George's Episcopal Church, Nashville. Within the Diocese of Tennessee she oversees the Safeguarding God’s Children training, serves on the Commission on Ministry, the Dandridge Trust Board and the Companion Diocese Committee.
Gene is married to James Manning and they have three adult children: James, Leslie and Bentley, and Graham, and one grandchild, Mary.
